SCNG INFORMATION
For South Carolina National Guard information call the TAG
office building between 8 am and 5 pm at (803) 806-4200. This number is also
good after hours for emergencies. The web sites have a lot of information and
news about South Carolina National Guard happenings. Web sites are
http://www.scguard.com
and for the SC Air National Guard http://www.scang.ang.af.mil.
ID CARDS
It is very important that spouses and children (10 and older)
of National Guard personnel have a Military ID Card. These are issued at several
locations around the state. You will need to take documents such as a marriage
license, birth certificates, etc. Contact the FTUS at the armory where your
spouse drills to find out what documents are needed and to make an appointment.
DEERS ENROLLMENT
To use any military medical facilities your family must be
enrolled in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System. Make sure your
family’s records are correct and up to date with the FTUS at the unit where
your spouse drills. To verify your family’s enrollment in the Defense
Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System call 1-800-538-9552.
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross offers many services
to Guard families, with one of the most important being AFES (Armed Forces
Emergency Services). This service keeps deployed military personnel in touch
with families during an emergency in regards to emergency leave. For more

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION
The Veterans Administration also has a lot of benefits and
services to offer members of the Guard to include home loans, education
assistance, and insurance. For more information contact a local office or visit
the web site at http://www.va.gov.
