NGASC Scholarship Foundation

   Each year, the National Guard Association's 

  Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to 

  deserving students who are members or dependents 

  of members (active or retired) of the South Carolina National Guard. 

 

Application Process

     Scholarship applications are usually available around the beginning of September.  They can be obtained at your unit, through the website or by calling the NGASC office at 803-254-8456 or 800-822-3235. The applications are usually due in the NGASC office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the last business day of January.  A Selection Committee then meets to determine the recipients of that year's awards.  A letter will then be mailed to each applicant informing him if he is a scholarship recipient or not.  A luncheon is held in the summer, where the award money is presented.

Application Requirements

     The applicant must be a member or a dependent of a member (active or retired) of the South Carolina National Guard in order to be considered eligible.  The applicant must complete the most recent scholarship application, and must provide the Unit Commander's signature, transcript information, and tax information (if not applying under "Academic Excellence Only" status).  All questions regarding the application or this process may be directed to Cindy Watson, NGASC Associate Director.
